I always seem to get awards when I am in a funk. I don’t know how that works out, but it always serves to make me feel better about myself and gives me the urge to start writing all the thoughts in my head again.

This award was given to me by Vanessa over at Pink Butterflies. I love reading Vanessa’s posts. And I strongly encourage everyone to go check her out!

Of course this award comes with rules:

  • Display the Award on your Blog.
  • Announce your win with a post and thank the Blogger who nominated you.
  • Present 15 deserving Bloggers with the Award.
  • Link your nominees in the post and let them know of their nomination with a comment.
  • Post 7 interesting things about yourself.

But since I have been living a life of chaos lately (with a big crochet project, Christmas planning, Thanksgiving planning, Alex’s third birthday planning, and a suuuuper Jealous Nick) I am going to send it out to all the wonderful people who follow me and I follow and encourage anyone and everyone to pass this onto anyone they feel deserves it!

Thanks again Vanessa!

Love, hugs and more to come later!

Modern Man of the Cloth Geekery Awards

This award is probably one of the best I have ever gotten. It could be, that it came at the perfect time. I read that I had received it when I was at a low point of wondering if my blog was actually reaching out to anyone. If I would actually affect anyone the way that I hoped to. If I could actually help me a change in the way people think about Postpartum depression and anxiety, if I could show other mom’s that we should support each other and we don’t need to bash on one another.

Then I seen that I was nominated for the Gandalf the Gray award as part of the Modern Man of the Cloth Geekery Awards. This made my day. My week even.

The Gandalf the Gray award is given “When you make a point your arguments are so thought out and so persuasive no counter argument can stand.”

Image

It was exactly what I needed at that moment. And for that I want to send a huge heartfelt thank you to How to Ruin a Toddler’s Day for this!

So onto the rules for this award:

  1. Like I tell my children you should always say thank you
  2. Please link back to the post that gave you your award
  3. If you won any of these awards you can pass along any of these made up, but still real, awards to someone else. Or can create your own awards to tell someone how awesome you think they are.
  4. Tell us 58 random things about you and 41 things that that make you interesting**

** Not a real rule. (thankfully!)

Now, I am not creative enough to make up my own awards, so I am just going to pass along the ones that Man of the Modern Cloth and How to Ruin a Toddler’s day used. Here we go!

1. The Optimus Prime Award- Your blog is so inspiring I just want to ‘transform, roll out’ and follow you. I am sending this award out to A Game of Diapers!

Image

2. The Gandalf the Gray Award– When you make a point your arguments are so thought out and so persuasive no counter argument can stand. I would like to award this to Mommy flying Solo.

Image

 3. The ‘This is Sparta’ Award– Everything you say is powerful and strong. Agree or disagree I find your passion and convictions so inspiring. I would like to award this to Atlanta Mom of Three.

 Image

4. The Joker Award- Your humour is infectious, and maybe even a little dark. Your posts have made me laugh out loud almost every time. I would like to give this award to Broken Condoms

I left one out from the original post. I really don’t have a blog that I follow that fits in that category. Thanks again to How to Ruin a Toddler’s Day. You definitely made my day!!

Love, hugs, and more to come later!

My Second Liebster Award!

Image

Oh my gosh! I feel so lucky to have been nominated a second time for a Liebster award! This time around I am not going to follow all the rules though. Seeing as I was nominated for this one not too long ago, all of my nominees will be the same people. (I haven’t been too active in searching up new blogs to follow this past week) So first off I am going to send out a huge, huge thank you to Winding Road for the nomination.

I will also answer her 11 questions:

  1. What book are you currently reading? Any good? I am actually not reading anything right now. I just finished rereading the twilight  books (which I really enjoy) And I have been focusing on finishing up a Crocheting project for a friends baby shower.
  2. What is your favorite chore? Obviously none are fun, but there is always that one that gives great satisfaction. My favorite chore is probably sweeping and mopping. It is quick and easy and yields the most results. (All of a sudden there are no crumbs or dried juice on my floors!)
  3. What song would be the soundtrack to your life? God Bless the Canadian Housewife by SheDaisy.
  4. What is the first thing you do after you put your child(ren) to bed at night? Breath a sigh of relief 😛 In all actuality, I tidy up the house then I sit down at the computer for a little while before I go to bed too.
  5. What is your sign and do you think it fits you? I am a Gemini and it is definitely me.
  6. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? I’m not a big ice cream person. (Being lactose intolerant, it’s self explanatory  but when I do eat ice cream I tend to go for vanilla or chocolate. Or (as when I was pregnant with Zoey, Cotton Candy!)
  7. Have you ever re-gifted a present and what was it? Ha ha yes. Yes I have. It was a really ugly picture my mil gave me. A friend was  over and expressed her love of it, so I gave it to her saying that I had another one I really wanted to hang instead
  8. Can you hula hoop? I could before I had kids. I can’t say that I have tried recently.
  9. Describe your last dream hmm. I don’t remember dreaming lately.
  10. What was your favorite thing to play as a kid? The ground is Lava (you know, when you jump from furniture to furniture without touching the floor)
  11. Have you ever milked a cow? no I can’t say that I have.

Image

That is going to conclude this edition of the award. Simply because (as I said) I don’t have anyone new to nominate, and because I can’t think of 11 random things about me right now! Thanks again to Winding Road for the nomination! 🙂

Love, hugs and more to come later!

Bouquet of Three Award

Another award!! Wow! The warm fuzzies have kicked in full force today, it’s a nice change from last night when I was feeling so down about people’s comments regarding the number of children I have/want to have.

ImageImageImage

This one is called the Bouquet of Three Award. It includes the Sunshine Award, the Best Moment Award, and the Versatile Blogger Award. A great big thank you goes out to The Girl Who Blogs, for nominating me for this trio of awards! I thoroughly enjoy her blog, and encourage everyone to go check her out!

The rules for this blog are as follows:

1. Display the Award Certificate on your website/blog
2. Announce your win with a post. Make sure to post a link back to me as a ‘thank you’ for the nomination.
3. Present up to 15 awards to deserving bloggers
4. Drop them a comment to tip them off after you have linked them in the post
5. Post 7 interesting things about yourself.

My nominees are as follows: (I hope they will all accept the awards!)

Embracing the Insanity
Broken Condoms
Domestic Geek Girl
Atlanta mom of three

And 7 interesting things about me… hmmm…

1- I was trying to find a classy way to ditch my now husband on the night I met him

2- I would rather read a book than watch a movie. I find movies to be boring and I can only watch them while I do something else

3- I am still angry that Pluto is no longer a planet

4- I am really bad at geography. Like… really bad.

5- I can read a map, but I am terrible at giving directions.

6- I am addicted to reality TV. Big Brother, Survivor, WhoDunnit, etc etc

7- I hope to go back to school one day so I can work with special needs children in schools.

That covers that award 🙂 A great big thank you again to the wonderful people who read my blog and my posts. I have some big plans for my blog that I hope to implement in the near future (things I have seen on other blogs that I like)

Love, hugs and more to come later!!

The Liebster Award

Image

The Liebster Award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. So, what is a Liebster?  The meaning: Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. Isn’t that sweet? Sure gives me the warm fuzzies!! (Hopefully I can be forgiven for posting multiple times a couple days in the row… I don’t like to sit on things like this if I can help it!)  Blogging is about building a community and it’s a great way to connect with other bloggers and help spread the word about newer bloggers/blogs.

I was lucky enough to be nominated by Mummy Flying Solo. Thank you so much for the nomination! It makes me feel amazing that people are reading and enjoying my blog!!

On to the rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you for the Liebster Award, and link back to his or her blog.

2. Answer the 11 questions that your nominator asks you.

3. Post 11 random facts about yourself.

4. Nominate 11 bloggers of your own, with under 200 followers, whom you think are as awesome as you.

5. Create 11 questions for your nominees.

6. And finally… Display the Liebster Award logo on your page.

The 11 questions that I need to answer:

1. Winter or summer? Summer. I hate being cold, and I get cold super easily so Winter is no fun for me.

2. What is your specialty meal? The one you cook to impress. This is a tough one. It depends on who I want to impress. But I would have to say that it would likely be baked chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies. Not only is it a favorite of mine, but it’s easy and filling!

3. Do you clean your teeth twice per day AND floss? HAHA… no… no I don’t. I probably should, but I can hardly find time to put a bra on some days… brushing my teeth before bed is an accomplishment!

4. Have you ever tried meditation? Yes! I used meditation while I was in labor with all three of my babies and I have used it to battle postpartum anxieties as well

5. What do you read to keep your brain active? Anything and everything. I love to read and I will pick anything up. Reading the news online is part of my daily routine, and I enjoy the conversations Hubs and I have about current events.

6. What is your favourite book of all time? Hmm. This one is really tough. I would have to say Tuesdays with Morrie, or the Seven People you meet in Heaven. Both really make me think, and I have enjoyed re reading them over and over

7. If you could be stuck in a lift with someone who would it be? Not my children. I can just imagine how that would play out.. I would have no hair left by the end of it. Part of me wants to say Hubs for the simple fact it would be nice to have some alone time with him and when the inevitable anxiety hit me he is great for helping…. but then part of me wants to name someone famous, but my mommy brain isn’t coming up with anyone right now.

8. Favourite new song released this year? Either ‘Little Umbrellas’ by Sarah Darling or ‘Follow your Arrow’ by Kacey Musgraves. Little Umbrellas is bouncy and catchy, and Follow your Arrow really speaks to me about being yourself and not giving a damn what other people think.

9. Best ever holiday?  Hmm. I’m not 100% sure if this post means the best holiday (trip) I have ever taken or my favorite holiday of the year… The best trip I have ever taken would have to be any of the times I came to Winnipeg with a new grandbaby for my parents to meet (I really don’t travel much). And my favorite holiday of the year would have to be Christmas. I love being around family and this is the one holiday that it seems people are willing to put their differences aside and get along.

10. The gift you enjoyed giving the most. The most recent one I can think of was this past Christmas when I gave the boys a wooden Thomas Train set for Christmas. They were so excited!! And they are ALWAYS playing with their trains.

11. Do you tell your kids about Santa Claus (or will you if you don’t yet have kids)? Yes. I am telling my kids about Santa Claus. I personally believe that it’s a great way to teach kids to believe in things, no matter how out there they seem!

11 Random Facts about myself:

1. I love to Crochet, and I am currently have a list of 8 projects I want to do

2. My favorite snacks while I was pregnant with Alex was pickles dipped in peanut butter and pretzels dipped in pickle juice

3. I have always wanted to go to Disney World and can’t wait until the kids are older so we can take them

4. I don’t like chocolate

5. But my favorite treat is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

6. I hate doing dishes so my husband got me a dishwasher. I still have a hard time staying on top of the dishes.

7. I haven’t cleaned the bathroom since my husband and I moved in together. Our room mate had that chore and I found out I was pregnant with Alex right after she moved out and Hubs has been doing it ever since.

8. I prefer to shower then bathe. Unless I have a good book, then I love to hide out in the bathtub.

9. I hate socks and shoes and wear sandals until the snow is too deep and starts touching my toes. (and even then I will wear sandals if I am going to the car and then into a store)

10. I lied to Alex about 5 minutes ago when I told him there was no cheese left in the fridge because I didn’t want to get up and get him another piece when he still had crackers he could eat.

11. I can’t stand quiet. I always have music on in the house, even at night.

My Nominees:

All 11 of these blogs are ones I enjoy seeing posts from in my reader. They all have less than 200 followers, and I love reading each and everyone and I encourage you to check them out!

The 11 random questions that my nominees must answer if/when they accept this award (and I hope they all do!)

1. What is your favorite breakfast food?

3. Which of the wonders of the world would you most like to see?

Home from Camping, and another award!

This past week, Hubs and I took the kids out camping for a couple nights. It was supposed to be one night, but it turned into two. We had a great time. All the things I was stressed about ended up not happening. No one fell into the fire (although my brother almost set himself on fire starting up the BBQ) No one drowned in the pool. No one got (badly) hurt. The kids slept pretty well. And we all had a great time! I didn’t forget anything important (although since we stayed for 2 nights instead of 1, I almost ran out of diapers) No one was dehydrated and the kids got to spend some quality time with their Nana and uncle. It went so well (and with no major anxiety attacks for me), that I think we are going to go for a night or two again next week!!

When I got home yesterday and finally got a couple minutes to get onto the computer, I discovered that I had been nominated for another blogger award! This one is the Team Membership Award. Which I assume means someone thinks I am contributing something worthy (A huge thanks to How to Ruin a Toddler’s Day for this fabulous nomination! Seriously, check out her blog, she is a fabulous writer!!)

Image

With this award comes the big task of passing it on! So here goes:

McCrazy Daily Lessons

Mummy Flying Solo

Wings as Eagles

The Girl who Blogs

Thanks again for the nomination. It makes me feel amazing that people are reading and enjoying my blog! What a boost of confidence! (Knowing there are people out there who seem to be enjoying my writing, has also given me the confidence to send in my story to the Fearless Formula Feeder, hopefully to share and encourage mom’s to have the confidence in their choices, regardless of what those choices are! I’ll share it here too soon!)

Love, hugs and more to come later!

You mean people actually read this?!?

When I started this blog, it was a way for me to express myself, for myself. I devote so so so much of my time to my husband and kids, this was going to be my place to vent, and my place to just be me. To write about the the things that mean something to me. When I started I didn’t expect anyone to actually read it. Or even really care about what I had to say. Over the last 6 months or so since I started this I have slowly picked up followers and watching the stats I see that there is at least one visit to my blog each day, and, you know, the likes and comments on my posts (and the blog that posted my after birth story, Life After Birth, which I guess would lend to the idea the people are reading my blog, but I guess I still didn’t believe anyone was) And then today happened.

Today I was going through the blogs that I follow and catching up on some reading. When I realized that one of the blogs I follow had been given the WordPress Family Award. Being happy and excited for her (I love reading her posts and look forward to them!) I read the post. To find out that she wanted to pass the award onto me! Me! Someone reads and enjoys my blog. To say I am wowed is an understatement. I was amazed when I was approached about sharing my birth story, and I am even more amazed by the shout out, so to How to Ruin a Toddler’s Day, I thank you very much for the award!

Part of receiving this award is to pass it along to other bloggers that you feel are deserving of it. (I don’t know of there is a special number of people I am supposed to send it on to, so I am going to send it to the 3 blogs I am enjoying right now and scream family to me.) There would be 4, but I feel it may be tacky to send it back to the person I received it from. (Just know that I seriously feel you deserved it!)

First I would like to pass this along to Broken Condoms. I thoroughly love reading her blog. She has a very honest and real sense of humor, and doesn’t hold anything back!

Second is Mommy Loves Wine. Her blog is a new one, with only 2 posts to date, but I hope she continues on with her writing. I love  that she isn’t willing to put up with bullshit, and doesn’t buy into the fantasy that everyone has perfect children. I look forward to seeing what else she has to say!

Last, but definitely not least, is someone I know personally, who puts her family above all else. You can see the joy and pride she has for her ‘boogs’ and she wants nothing more then to live an honest and happy life with her little family. Frecklefacemom is someone I look up to, not only in the blogging world, but in my everyday life as well.

Love, hugs and more to come later
