Unreasonable overreacting

Recently the weather has finally started warming up. Which means that I have been spending more and more time outside with the kids. It’s great. We revamped our daily routine leaving me with less time to get housework and moving prep done, but more time to be outdoors enjoying the amazing weather.

There is just one itsy bitsy problem with the additional time outside. Someone *Alex* has developed an insane fear of bugs. I mean INSANE. If one so much as moves into his line of vision he will start screaming and crying as if something just reached out of the ground and starting chewing on his foot. I’m not even kidding. I wish I was. But I’m not.
It’s horrible. It’s summer. It’s outside. There are bugs. Everywhere.
I’m at my wits end with this kid. We were in the van and he started screaming hysterically because there was a mosquito flying around the van.
As far as I can tell, there is no reason for it. No bug bites, stings etc. No new movies that should be causing it. The only bug he doesn’t hate? Spiders. Because spiders turn you into spider man. Seriously. This kid.
I downloaded a bug squashing game for my phone. We’re going to get some bug books. I hope something helps. Playing outside while your three year old screams as if he is being eaten and your two year old runs around mocking him is not my idea of a fun summer.

Love, hugs and more to come later

    • I hope so too. Right after I posted this he started screaming in his bed that there was a mosquito effectively waking up his brother and sister. I feel so bad for him, I don’t want him to be afraid and yet I’m also a little frustrated by the whole thing to. Thanks for stopping by, if you do find a way into their heads, let me know about it!
