Daylight saving time (DST)—also summer time in British English— is the practice of advancing clocks during the lighter months so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in autumn
So our clocks went back last night. For some people (who don’t have young kids living in their homes) this means an extra hour of sleep. In my house…. ha ha… it definitely doesn’t mean extra sleep. Not even a little bit. The very idea of extra sleep makes me want to laugh. Hysterically.
My kids are demons when it comes to sleeping in. On a normal, not clock going backward day, we get up at 630. Once the clocks were set back… You guessed it… We were up at 530. At 11 the kids wanted lunch. I made them wait until 12. At 430 they wanted supper. I made them wait until 530. At 6 they were ready for bed. I made them wait until 645.
I am hoping that tomorrow they sleep until 630. But I am not going to hold my breath on that. I think we will be up at 630 for a couple more days before they start figuring it out.
While we are on the topic of sleep… Nick has apparently decided that he is done napping. He has napped twice in the last week. And Zoey cut herself back to one 3 hour nap a day. That’s it. Why do all of my friends have kids who like to nap while I was blessed with kids who don’t? Although, I won’t complain too much. Most nights they sleep 11.5 hours straight. But once they are in bed I still need to clean my house! (I don’t clean much during the day while they are awake. I would rather play with them then do dishes and laundry!)
This post is kind of all over the place I know. My head feels the same way lately. Seriously. The week off my Birth Control Pills always seems hard on me. Until I am back on my pills for a couple days. Today was day one back on them though. So it should start getting better and less weird for me!
