It’s all Fun and Games Until Somebody Breaks a Bone

I’m sure you have all heard the adage ‘It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye’ I looked up the origin to this adage on Google and found that it supposedly came from Roman times where the only rule during Roman wrestling matches was, “No eye gouging.” Biting, kicking and scratching were allowed but the only way to be disqualified was to poke someone’s eye out. I don’t know if it’s true, but it fits nice in my story so I am going to go with it.

So the boys are very rough and tumble. One of their favorite games is I lie on the floor and we play fight. I love it, it burns their energy, it allows them to be boys, and it teaches them limits (How to keep it fun and games, and how far is too far)

So a week ago or so I was lying on the floor to stretch my back and the boys took it as an invite to play. Worked for me so they started sitting on me and I would attack them by tickling them. Good fun was had by all!

Until (and there is always an until in these stories!) Alex came running at me to jump onto me. I lifted my arms up to catch him and hold him up in the air, but we weren’t as lined up as we normally are and all his weight (all 27.8 lbs of him) landed on my right hand/wrist. OUCH!

I went into the Dr yesterday to have it looked at, and he decided to send me for xrays, coming to the conclusion it is at least fractured if not broken. I went for xrays this morning and I will find out for sure what is wrong next week but I am under direction that for now, I am to treat it as though it is broken and leave it in the splint. Better me than them!

Thanks Alex. I love you too. 🙂 Guess we won’t be rough housing for a little while now!

Love, hugs and more to come later!

Lynn
